Kicking back in the Green Room after the gig

Yes, we have played in Timaru before, just once i might add…. it’s gonna be interesting to see who Katchfire brings to the gig tonite….. locals? cats from Chch or even Dunedin? who knows… all i know is, it’s 200km away… at least kilometers goes past quicker than the miles conversation of the US Soundcheck – tea – accom as usual. 10:15pm we start and playing, and was taken by the southern hospitality, not a bad turnout for a Sunday night but i hear it’s a public holiday down here tomorrow.  What a priviledge it was to end this quick Southern Tour in Timaru.

Checked out at 10am… got to Timaru in a couple of hours to find out there’s another 200km to Dunedin… nice one.. we cruise along the long straights and flat scenic landscape of otago getting into Dunedin after 3pm. We soundcheck at an old but first time venue ‘Sammy’s’ it’s this old Theater hall type of build with a high stage… and posters of other bands who’ve played here. We notice ‘Herbs’ played here back n the day.. mean. 9.45pm again is the call to roll down to Sammy’s….. the place quickly fills up after 10… and we started our first set around 10.45′ish…. our third gig seemes to bring out a tighter co-hesive set.. and we sing into the Dunedin night, the 500 plus crowd joining in and singing along.

Checked out at 9am… flew to Chch, and kicking back….

We’re staying right intown and the Bedford is pretty much across the road and down the street…
Soundcheck was quick – Kai – Accom.

9:45pm is when we’re all due back at the venue, we all rock down at our own leisure, to be greeted by an impressively long line…. and turns out to be a sold out gig. over 1,200 people all skanking to katchafire’s sweet tunes..

Redemption song... back in NZ and at the Phat Club

Thursday 24th brings us to Hamilton airport leaving H-town to Nelson via Wellington.

It’s cooler than usual in Nelson this time….. We settle into the Rutherford before soundcheck….

The boys are stoked cos they have there own personal gears to jam…The stage has expanded over the years and the Bass gives off a huuuge phat, tight sound… especially when you here Tere soundchecking his bass rig with ’sun is shining’

The green room brings back memories looking at various Katchfire gigs and tours to Nelson and the South Island.

An excellent crowd and turnout for a Thrusday night…… the crowd warmed up in the Phat Club’s close enclosure….. chanting for more…

Today we played at the Auckland Town Hall…. for the Tech Fest..

The onstage sound was O for Awesome

Oh and a big phat O to Von Zippers for the mean aZ ShaDes! Brother A.J and the team on the North Shore Big Ups!

Back home around 10pm NZ.

Late checkout – return Van – Checkin back to QANTAS…….

Checked out of accom and headed to Sydney domestic, Melbourne our next destination.
We’re greeted on the otherside by the team from Funktion who take us into the city to accom…. The Savoy, not far from the casino.. we stayed here before…

We headed back down to Hi-Fi to some funky sounds coming from The High Society and Jesse Jahmal

This turned out to be super Baaad gig although a crowd of 500 plus it gave the Sydney crowd (1200 plus) a run for thier money.

Out into town to check out fellow Kiwi band ‘ShapeShifter’ and ‘Tiki’s after party.

Sydney, what more can one say…. many a good time and many a party had in Sydney..

Sound check as usual around 5pm. then chill at accom or katchup with the whanau.

10 comes and we’re at the back. ‘This Version’ a Sydney Reggae, Roots… opened the night.

Even had time to record at a local studio

Next gig is in Sydney this Friday
